13 September 2026

Reference: CVE-2026-42018

1. What is being reported?

The problem is that JFrog Artifactory may mistakenly give out an internal access token to anyone who tries to connect, even if anonymous access is disabled. This token could allow unauthorised people to see or use sensitive resources within the software.

2. What this means in plain English

If your organisation uses JFrog Artifactory, this flaw could let attackers access important files or data without permission. This could lead to data leaks or other security issues that might harm your business or organisation.

3. Could this affect a small business?

Small businesses or charities using JFrog Artifactory could be affected, especially if the software is internet-facing or holds sensitive data. If you do not use this product, or it is not connected to the internet, you are probably not at risk.

4. What to do now

  • Check if your organisation uses JFrog Artifactory and whether it is exposed to the internet.
  • Contact your IT provider or software supplier to confirm if you are affected and to get instructions on applying the necessary security updates or mitigations.
  • Follow any vendor guidance carefully to fix the issue or consider stopping use of the product if no fix is available.
  • Ensure your IT provider follows government security update priorities and forensics requirements as recommended by CISA.

5. Ask your IT provider

Can you confirm if we use JFrog Artifactory, and if so, have we applied the latest security updates or mitigations to protect against the CVE-2026-42018 vulnerability?

6. Bottom line

If you use JFrog Artifactory, act quickly to secure it against this known and actively exploited vulnerability.

Information based on CISA KEV, NVD, and reputable security reporting.
